The Cairngorms is the UK’s largest national park with five of the six tallest mountains in the British Isles found here. It gives a feeling of remoteness and grandure with spectacular mountains and munroes alongside Caledonaian forests and the glorious Rothiemurchus woodlands. It is a paradise for walkers and runners, filled with wildlife, including red squirrels, capercaillie, golden eagles and osprey.

Hiking or running tour

About the experience

Our partner offers guests the chance to explore the Cairngorms with expert support and a deep passion for the Scottish landscape. They bring extensive local knowledge and a genuine love for the mountains, which adds depth to every outing. In addition, they have created two exclusive guided hiking or running tours designed specifically for our guests. Each route showcases dramatic scenery, rich wildlife and the region’s unique arctic‑alpine environment. Both experiences begin at the Cairngorm Mountain ski centre and follow well‑established paths, giving you sweeping views, native flora and, with a little luck, the occasional reindeer. As you move through these landscapes, you gain a real sense of the scale and beauty of the national park.

The first of the guided hiking or running tours takes you around the Northern Corries before crossing the Cairngorm Plateau and reaching the summit of Cairngorm, Scotland’s sixth‑highest Munro. Meanwhile, the second guided hiking or running tours, which is the more challenging option continues deeper into the plateau to reach Ben Macdui, the country’s second‑highest peak, before looping back via the rim of the Northern Corries and up to Cairngorm. Both adventures offer a memorable day in the mountains, whether you choose a medium or hard‑grade experience. Along the way, you may encounter ptarmigan, mountain hares and breathtaking views across Strathspey and Rothiemurchus Forest. Ultimately, each route provides a powerful connection to the Highlands and a rewarding sense of achievement.
