About The West Wing

The West Wing, accommodating 9 is part of the exquisite Dell of Rothiemurchus with breathtaking views and landscaped gardens that are almost unequalled in their size and beauty in this area.

The West Wing is quietly hidden away on the Rothiemurchus Estate, but only a 20 minute walk into Aviemore. The property is surrounded by manicured lawns, stretching beyond to pastures where a herd of Scotland’s iconic Highland cattle roam, to Cairngorm Mountain itself. A more quintessential and idyllic Highland location would be hard to find anywhere!

Living

The West Wing is filled with period features and has its own driveway and entrance, leading into the very pretty farmhouse kitchen with a table that seats 10. It also has a double oven and electric hob, fridge freezer and dishwasher. Across the hall is the lovely sitting room, looking south over the lawn and with a snug little wood burning stove.

Bedrooms and bathrooms

On the first floor are two bedrooms with either superking or twin beds, one with a useful additional third single bed. The bathroom on this floor has a bath with integrated shower. Up another floor are two further very pretty bedrooms – one superking and one twin, as well as a loo and shower room. There’s also another shower room on the ground floor.

Outdoors

You have exclusive use of the back gardens, with breathtaking views and landscaped gardens and a charming Wendy house where children can imagine all sorts of holiday adventures. There are mature trees perfect for climbing, a tree swing and flat smooth lawns for games of rounders. At the bottom of the garden, with a magnificent view of Craigellachie mountain, is the fabulous paved leisure area for whiling away the days in the warmer months. Here you will find the large hot tub and next to it is a big fire pit with seating round three sides. To the other side of the hot tub is a gas-fired barbecue range, large enough to cater for everyone with plenty to spare! There’s also an outdoor table tennis table in case you are looking for something else to do!

Location

Tucked away from the busy centre of Aviemore, you’re only a short walk from the Rothiemurchus Centre and Farm Shop for all the supplies you’ll need. You’re also just around the corner from dreamy Loch an Eilein with its lochside walks, Loch Morlich with its watersports and beach, and you’re well on the way towards Cairngorm Mountain for skiing in the winter.

We enjoyed our week at the West Wing. The house is very attractive, the setting is very peaceful and the big garden is a real asset, as is the hot tub.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was gorgeous inside and out. The beds were all really cosy and we loved relaxing in the evening with the log fire. Our two little girls loved running in the garden and playing on the swing. The house had everything we needed including idyllic views out of every window.
