Have you ever been to Loch Insh in the Cairngorms National Park? If you have, you’ll appreciate the copious benefits of staying in a lodge that’s a mere five-minute wander from the loch, with plenty more to explore straight from the door. Living and dining

This beautifully renovated cottage is the ideal place to relax after all that time spent outdoors. It’s pristine and – as guests have come to expect from a Seasgair lodge – well kitted out with everything you could need to prepare mouthwatering meals from local Highland produce. Whoever’s on dishwashing duty will be happy to linger on the task, as the kitchen window offers peaceful loch views in winter and woodland views in summer when the trees are in leaf.

Inshlea has been carefully designed with comfort in mind, from the luxurious beds in all three bedrooms to the dining room that easily seats everyone together. The cottage’s large windows let in lots of light, which is particularly noticeable on the side of the house which faces south, over farmland, wee hills and distant woodlands. It makes Inshlea feel bright and comforting, whether you’re relaxing in one of the bedrooms, enjoying cook’s creations in the dining room, or curled up next to the woodburner on the lounge sofas.

Outdoors

Inshlea enjoys beautiful views across a peaceful corner of Loch Insh, while through the gate at the bottom of the garden, after a short woodland walk you reach the outdoor centre with everything it has to offer: a licensed cafe, playparks, watersports, a dry ski slope, jungle float, and lots, lots more.

Location

If you’d like to enjoy the quieter side of the loch just turn left out of the garden gate and you’re likely to find the loch deserted. And, without a doubt, you’ll be struck by the far-reaching views across the water to mountains beyond. Bring a fresh brew from the cottage and sit on the halfway bench to fully absorb it all, or make this your first pause on a circular walk that takes in Uath Lochans and sections of both the Badenoch and Speyside Ways. Cyclists will find plenty of routes from Inshlea, including the famous Route 7, along peaceful back roads or entirely off-road if you prefer.

Just a few miles from your front door is Glenfeshie, an area of rejuvenating Scottish native woodlands, peatlands and wetlands. Head in the other direction for rejuvenation of a different kind, at the famed Old Post Office Cafe and Gallery. Ideal for bird lovers, Insh Marshes is close, with ospreys nesting nearby. History enthusiasts will enjoy exploring Ruthven Barracks, just a short walk, cycle or drive away.

Inshlea’s incredible location and serene interior aren’t its only assets: this lodge also has a massive garden, which encircles the property. Dogs and children will enjoy the freedom of the lawn, while the quiet location makes it perfect for guests seeking rest and restoration.
