The Post House is a relaxed and comfortable 18-sleeper lodge - simply full to the brim with character and quirkiness! This is a robust and unfussy house - perfect for a group of 3, 4 or even 5 families who want a stress-free Highlands holiday.
As its name suggests, it was at one time a postal sorting office. Built in the Edwardian era, there are fascinating heritage features galore - children will have great fun hunting around the house to find them all.
One of the most delightful is the former telephone kiosk - now brilliantly converted into a cloakroom in the front porch!
As you enter the front door the corridor leads you into the enormous 40 foot Alpine-style living area, with plenty of comfy sofas and chairs arranged in front of the double-size wood burning stove. This is the place for fun and sociable evenings - whether around the TV or a board game or two, or perhaps the piano or the table football. You can also eat in here at the huge re-purposed farm door table.
But if you prefer, (and enjoy a very noisy kitchen supper) you’ll all fit around the 18-seater table in the kitchen. Here you’ll find lots of food prep space on the counters and island, as well as dishwasher and sturdy double electric range oven. The washing machine-tumble dryer is in the adjacent utility room which leads to the back door. There’s plenty room here to clean and dry your wet or muddy clothes (or dogs!), and a handy shower room and loo off to the side.
Five of the six bedrooms in the main house are on the ground floor (4 twins and a double) and three of these ground floor rooms still have the original arched windows. Some rooms have the original panelling in place, and one has even kept the Edwardian pigeon holes once used for sorting the letters! The sixth bedroom is a roomy quad on a mezzanine level above the living area, with its own bathroom with bath and shower. On the ground floor is a bathroom with bath and shower, plus a shower room with rain shower.
If you have the full compliment of 18 guests, 4 can occupy the Studio, with a generous living/dining area complete with wood burning stove. As well as a kitchen there’s also a utility/drying room, and upstairs two bedrooms (a double and a twin) and a bathroom with bath and shower.
The Post House is all about simple relaxation. The outdoor and indoor relaxation areas around the courtyard include a large hot tub, a barrel sauna and a steam shower cabin. You can completely chill out whilst your family enjoy the large flat enclosed garden - perfect for ball games or just running off any excess energy! There’s also a swing and climbing frame set and outdoor games to keep active children busy. Whatever the weather you can all enjoy your meals outside at the covered eating area on the wide wraparound deck.

"We had a fab break away in Kingussie at The Post House with our family, big kids and little grandkids. It was great with it being so large we could spread ourselves out. We all got home safe & sound after the snow even the American ones heading back to Texas. We will have lots of happy memories of our time spent there. The Post House is a lovely spacious property with excellent facilities and great location being in the town of Kingussie itself. Best chippy ever one member of the family said. We used the Chinese as well and was great having the Coop just round the corner. Great garden for the kids and the hot hub & sauna were an excellent addition and used daily by all. Amazing entertaining areas in property, kitchen was well stocked and with nice touches with Welcome Treats. "We have just returned from an amazing holiday at the post house. We have waited so long to get away on this holiday as it’s had to be changed a number of times due to covid. I’d like to firstly mention how professional Seasgair staff are and how amazing the communication was from start to finish, we had organised two special occasions at the house and the staff were fantastic at helping us with whatever was needed. The post house exceeded our expectations and they have really thought about everything that guests may need. Our welcome gift was delicious and really appreciated, the Spotify play list was a great idea and we listened to it as we chilled out in the hot tub! The house was very clean, towels and bed linen were crisp white with very comfortable beds. The house lay out suited us very well (it’s massive) as we had so many of us staying, we were amazed at the history of the house and loved that they kept the very large door which was once used in the sorting office as a table. The sauna and steam room was a added bonus and pure luxury, the yoga room is a great area for relaxation and even chill out time to read a book. We have fallen in love with Kingussie and the post house, we created so many memories with a perfect location and in an amazing house that will last forever. We can’t wait to come back again."
