LODGE FLOORPLAN

Caberfeidh is a chocolate-box-pretty, wonderfully welcoming lodge in the charming village of Kincraig, halfway between Aviemore and Kingussie. Full of Edwardian character, it has lots of space inside and out. So much in fact that it needs two sets of staircases, one at each end of the house!

Caberfeidh is unmistakably Highland in style - from the mountain views to the stag’s antlers above the fireplace. There is a grand but extremely comfortable living room in one wing - where you can all stretch out in front of the roaring woodburner or enjoy a movie. The piano has been freshly tuned ready for you to play! Across the hall is the fun little games room with an air hockey table and plenty of board games - perfect for when teenagers or children prefer having a space of their own to chill out.

On the other side of the entrance hall is the snug, with another woodburning stove, TV with DVD player and Freesat. From here you go through to the big farmhouse-style eat-in kitchen, with French windows out to the garden and patio eating area. The bird feeders are right outside too so you can watch your feathered neighbours enjoying breakfast whilst you eat yours.

On the first floor there are 5 bedrooms each sleeping two. The master has its own dressing room and an ensuite shower room with a large walk in rain shower. Next door is a twin room which, like the master bedroom, looks out onto the garden and across to Loch Insh and the mountains. There are two further double bedrooms, one looking over the front towards the loch and the other to the garden at the side of the house. The final bedroom is a lovely twin room which overlooks the lawn. The family bathroom is on the first floor and has a shower over the bath, there is also another shower room and loo downstairs.

The patio is perfectly set up for eating outside in the warmer months, with easy access to the kitchen, and is in the sun throughout the day. Fire up the BBQ for an alfresco feast, or in the cooler months, light the chiminea and enjoy a warming dram as dusk falls and the stars come out onto the wide open skies above you. The garden is a great space for energetic children with plenty of lawn to kick a ball about on. It’s secure for dogs and one of the porches would make a great space for a wet dog to snooze after a long forest walk. Should you need it, the drive has space to park at least 4 cars comfortably.

At the back of the house is the utility and drying room with washing machine, tumble dryer and hanging space for your clothes. The big porches at the front and side have plenty of space for wellies, coats, ski boots and much more. In addition the garage is secure and easily accessible, ideal for bikes or any other large sporting equipment.

There are very few holiday houses of this character and size in this delightful Cairngorms village - and Caberfeidh’s location is truly second to none. Down a quiet road well away from the main road between Aviemore and Kingussie, it’s only 1 mile walk across the river to Loch Insh with its watersports centre and outdoor activities. Loch Insh’s Boat House Restaurant and Quarter Deck Bar also enjoy possibly the most stunning views of any eatery in our area. The sunsets over the hills behind the loch are simply magical!

In fact you’re also in a prime spot to enjoy Kincraig’s newest arrival, the wonderful Old Post Office Cafe Gallery, right across the road from Caberfeidh. (The fresh cream cakes have a devoted following from all across the Strath.) In the evenings, take a stroll to The Suie (pronounced “soo-ee”), the village bar which hosts folk music nights on a Thursday. It’s a real favourite with locals and has a unique atmosphere!

From Caberfeidh you can continue along quiet Speybank Walk as it turns into the Speyside Way walking route, on which you can walk or cycle all the way to Aviemore along a wide path.

The perfect combination of a quiet village location with adventure on tap - Caberfeidh is a lodge where unwinding and relaxing into the Highlands pace of life comes very easily. Make yourself at home!

"We swapped Northern Italy for the Cairngorm Mountains - and what a great time we had. We've really enjoyed staying in your lovely house - very comfortable and lots of thoughtful touches. The master bedroom shower was a bit hit after a day on the hills. " March 2020

"Had a wonderful time with our extended family. Went for lovely walks, lovely coffee/cake at the cafe and shop across the road. Beautiful house and lots of lovely touches. Look forward to coming back sometime. " March 2020

"We had a super time at Caberfeidh. The hose is stunning and has everything you need for a weekend away. The kids enjoyed the games room and the garden, we all loved the fires and we even spotted a couple of red squirrels outside. We'd love to visit again in the summer time. " January 2020

"We had a lovely family break with lots to do for three generations. Our highlight was watching the red squirrels play in the garden. We hope to return soon to this lovely house in one of our favourite parts of Scotland. " January 2020

"A lovely and stylish house in the heart of the Cairngorms. We visited Kincraig with our 3 adult kids, their partners and our grandson and the house had all of the facilities we needed. A great place to spend Hogmanay." January 2020

"This is a delightful family home set in lovely countryside. It is in a superb location with both lovely walks straight from the house and interesting places to visit close at hand. It was -6* when we arrived but the house was lovely and cosy. There is ample parking and plenty of room for children to play in a safe and spacious garden. The house is beautifully decorated, well-equipped with everything you need for an enjoyable stay, a wood-burning stove for those nights when you want to stay in, plenty of hot water and beds that are comfortable for a good night's sleep after an energetic day. I would recommend Caberfeidh without hesitation." November 2019
