We receive so many compliments about the interior of The Bothy in Aviemore, decorated in a very crisp and clean, Scandinavian style, with some distinctive Highland touches. One guest even asked in the guestbook “can you please come and design my house!”.
Well we can reveal some of its design secrets so that you too can emulate the look of this charming little lodge when you get home.
Much of the interior was painted in classic Farrow and Ball colours. The doors, skirting and windows were painted in Purbeck Stone, whilst the lovely bathroom panelling and twin room headboards are in Mole’s Breath. These complementary tones of neutrals and greys, as well as pops of bright yellow throughout the rooms brings the whole colour scheme together throughout the house.
To bring warmth and character to what could otherwise be quite a cool interior, natural textures such as sheepskin rugs and cosy wool throws have been used everywhere. There are little personal and quirky touches in each room such as a dog lamp base, and moose and stag bottle stoppers in the dining room. In the lounge the shelves are filled with favourite novels and travel books ready for an evening spent curled up in front of the inviting wood burning stove. Cacti and succulent plants bring nature indoors and add the finishing touches to this perfect little lodge.
