Common queries answered in our Frequently Asked Questions

Are your lodges accessible?

Each Seasgair lodge is unique and characterful, and we hope that guests of varying ages and abilities can enjoy a stay with us. Several lodges have downstairs bedrooms with ensuite walk-in showers and spacious living areas. The ground floor of Alltnacriche is fully DDA compliant for wheelchair users: it has wide doors and sufficient space around furniture. Please contact us for a chat about your specific needs.

Can I charge my electric car at your lodges?

Craigard Lodge has a 7kW Type 2 electric car charging point for guest use. ChargePlace Scotland will help you find other local electric vehicle charging stations. Please do not plug into the lodge electrics for electric car charging. This is strictly prohibited and could void the insurance of the property. Guests would be liable for any damage and additional costs incurred.

What is included in the lodges? Are bed linen and towels included?

All the lodges come with:

Bed linen

Towels

Kitchen linen

Washing-up supplies

Handwash

Fridges, freezers, microwaves and a large selection of crockery and utensils

Hairdryers.

Some lodges provide shampoo and shower gel, and most offer free unlimited logs for woodburners.

Is there WiFi at the lodges?

All lodges have free Wi-Fi: you’ll find the network and password details in the guestbook app.

Most bars, restaurants and cafes in the area offer free Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi can sometimes be a bit slower than it is in cities, and it’s best to assume it won’t be streaming speed.

Do I need a 4×4 to get there?

A four-wheel drive car is not necessary. All lodges are close to a main road, and in the winter all roads are ploughed and salted. Some of our lodges are within walking distance of local transport links, and there are some excellent local taxi firms – so a car may not be necessary at all. Some of the lodges are down a woodland track so driving slowly and carefully is advised, but the tracks are well-maintained throughout the summer and winter.

What standard are the lodges?

We only work with the best owners and handpick the best lodges in the best locations for you. All of the lodges are inspected prior to guests’ arrival. We pride ourselves in offering our guests a unique type of luxury.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, pets are very definitely allowed in most of our lodges. Many people bring their dogs to stay, and  we’ve even welcomed cats and pet rabbits in the past! We normally limit this to two well-behaved dogs, but if you have more, please give us a call and we can advise on which lodges are more spacious and therefore most suitable. There is a £25 charge for each dog to cover the extra cleaning. There are many fantastic doggy walks right from your doorstep.

When will the ski resorts open for snowsports?

This is always a hard one to answer! Typically the mountain is ready for snowsports by Christmas and the season normally runs through to the end of April. It has, on occasion, opened during November and run through to June. Scottish conditions do mean that ski resorts may not be open consistently during this time. Check the Cairngorm Mountain, Lecht 2090 and Glenshee Facebook pages for the most up-to-date information.

What time are check-in and check-out?

Check-in from 4pm. Check-out is by 10am.

Will someone be there to meet us when we arrive?

We would be delighted to come and meet you when you arrive if you would like us to do so. Otherwise, we can leave a key in the key safe outside the lodge. Just let us know what you would prefer.

Are there any additional charges?

You can choose to add one of our handpicked, sustainable male or female beauty packs to enhance your experience at the time of booking. Once you have made your booking, there will be no extra charges at departure (unless significant damage has occurred, please see below about security deposits and our terms and conditions).

Is there a security or damage deposit?

No, but sometimes things happen so please let us know so we can work with you to get it fixed. Our properties are thoroughly checked after your departure and any unreported damage will be charged for.

How should we leave our lodge?

Please leave your lodge tidy and do your washing up. We’d also like you to take your bins out and  recycle where you can. Details of what can be recycled and where to find the bins are in your lodge. You don’t need to strip the beds or hoover – unless you really want to!

Do I need holiday insurance?

We don’t provide holiday insurance, but we recommend that you take out adequate cover on booking. You’ll find our full cancellation policy in our terms and conditions. Depending on your policy, you may have to take out extra insurance to cover snow sports or any specialised kit you bring.

What if I want to cancel my holiday?

By making your booking you enter into a legal contract with us, and your deposit is non-refundable. If you do need to cancel, please send us an email, and we’ll get back to you to confirm the cancellation charges. If you don’t hear back from us, please follow up – we always reply to all enquiries. We strongly recommend you take out holiday insurance to cover potential cancellation expenses.

What if there is a problem during my stay?

There is a list of useful numbers in your lodge guestbook app, and we hope we have included everything you need to know about each lodge. However, if you still have queries, we are on hand to help in any way we can. Just drop us an email – or give us a call if it’s urgent.
